At JDI-UK, we believe in keeping our customers informed about the changes that impact their operations. From regulatory updates to software publishers announcing end-of-life (EOL) for their products, we share essential information so you can understand the potential risks and take proactive steps to protect your business.
If you have questions after reading our updates, let’s start a conversation. We’re here to help you assess the impact and implement solutions that keep your company secure, compliant, and future-ready.
The Data Use and Access Act 2025 introduces the most significant update to UK data protection since GDPR, aiming to simplify compliance while enabling innovation. For small businesses, this means new flexibility in areas like automated decision-making, cookie consent, and scientific research, alongside clearer rules for legitimate interests and subject access requests. However, it also brings stricter obligations around children’s data protection, complaints handling, and transparency.
At JDI-UK, we help micro and small businesses navigate these changes with practical solutions—whether through policy reviews, staff training, or a fully managed compliance service
Office 2016 & Office 2019 are now GDPR & Cyber Essentials NON Compliant effective October 14th 2025
Microsoft regularly retires older Office products, meaning security updates and support will stop after the EOL date. Continuing to use outdated versions exposes your business to compliance risks, data vulnerabilities, and operational inefficiencies.
Upgrading before EOL ensures you remain secure, compatible, and aligned with modern productivity standards.
Don’t wait until it’s to late, plan your transition well in advance.
On 25th September 2025 Microsoft confirmed on its official Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) page that users in the European Economic Area (EEA) will receive the first 12 months of ESU for free, until October 14, 2026
📌 Key Details from Microsoft’s Official Documentation
This policy change was made in response to regulatory scrutiny under the EU Digital Markets Act, which challenged Microsoft's earlier ESU conditions.
We would love to start a conversation to see how we can help with your IT, Cyber Essentials Certification & GDPR compliance.
