Microsoft Office EOL Information
Office 2016 & Office 2019 are now GDPR & Cyber Essentials NON Compliant effective October 14th 2025

On 25th September 2025 Microsoft confirmed on its official Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) page that users in the European Economic Area (EEA) will receive the first 12 months of ESU for free, until October 14, 2026
📌 Key Details from Microsoft’s Official Documentation
- Free ESU for EEA: Microsoft states that “consumers in the European Economic Area (EEA), including the UK, will receive one year of free Extended Security Updates for Windows 10.”
- No cloud backup required: The previous requirement to sync settings to the cloud was removed for EEA users.
- Enrolment method: Users must still sign in with a Microsoft account and enrol via Windows Update.
This policy change was made in response to regulatory scrutiny under the EU Digital Markets Act, which challenged Microsoft's earlier ESU conditions.
